Renowned for his dynamic preaching, Time Magazine termed him the “Dean of Black Preachers” in 1980.  His reputation as a masterful preacher and lecturer has earned him many honors.  He has received honorary doctorates from Colgate University, Wake Forest University, Howard University, Tuskegee University and Albright College. The Republic of Liberia honored him with the title of Knight Commander, Order of African Redemption. In 2000, President Bill Clinton awarded Dr. Taylor the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Dr. Taylor has authored How Shall They Preach?; The Scarlet Thread: Nineteen Sermons; and We Have This Ministry: The Heart of the Pastor’s Vocation (with Rev. Samuel D.
