Membership
Many people ask – “Why do I need to belong to a church?”

Belonging to a community of faith is important to your life as a disciple.  Your personal decision to follow Christ is but a beginning step.  Your decision to commit to anchor your life as a disciple in a specific community (i.e., church) is about sharing a common witness and vision.  It’s about deciding “this is my family.” This is the place where I will invest, share in leadership, service and fellowship.  This is the community that I will lean on as I learn to live out God’s call on my life.

Membership is also a sign of commitment.  It says, “I want to do more than have a casual relationship with Christ, faith and the community. I want to be committed.”

Concord Church is certainly not a perfect church.  No church is.  When we become members of a church, we are all saying “even in light of all of our imperfections, we will still journey together as one body in Christ because our hope is in Christ, the same Christ who lavishes grace on us all when we inevitably fail each other.”

There is a place for you at Concord Baptist Church of Christ.  There is a place to be a friend, to find a friend – and to worship the One who calls us into community!

New Christians

As a new Christian, you will find the tools you need to get grounded in the Word of God. You will start by studying God’s Word with us, participating in corporate prayer, and developing relationships with people who share a love for God.  You will be grounded by nurturing your spirit.

Returning to the Faith
As a Christian coming back to the fold, you will find encouragement and equipment to move forward spiritually. God calls us to be in relationship with each other -- to “not forsake the fellowship." You were fashioned by the very hands of God to do more than stand still or to be chained to your past. Strength to move forward is found in a deepened prayer life, an engaging study of God’s Word, and sharing in the profound power of “be-friending” God’s beloved community.  We all have it within us to get “lost” sometimes. But Jesus himself has already prayed for us -- we, too, will get back on the road and be a blessing to other people!

Relocating Christians
As a Christian re-locating to our area, you will find a community excited by and in need of your gifts and testimony.

New Member Orientation
We are committed to doing whatever we can to help you find yourself in Christ.  We certainly want you to be active in our church, but we first want you to find yourself in Christ.  Our new members’ orientation is part of this effort.  This four week course – The Class of L.I.F.E. (Lord, Identity, Foundation, and Empowerment) – is designed to address the questions that new members may have concerning their lives in Christ.

You can join our church in a number of ways.
During our worship service and after the sermon has been preached, you can follow the directions of the pastor.  If you are interested, you will be asked to get up from your seat and walk down one of the aisles. The Pastor will take your hand and will pray for you as Jesus has prayed for all of us.

If you are coming from another church home, you can transfer your membership by “letter.”

If you have any questions about membership at Concord Church, please call the church office and speak with Rev. Jeff Thompson.
