Men’s and Women’s Ministries at Concord
Concord Women’s Ministry
The Concord Women’s Ministry embraces all women of our faith community and serves to empower and equip women to live into their gifts. It provides meaningful women’s worship, fellowship and learning opportunities and a space to connect with other women in Christ. The 2006-2007 Women's Season theme is "Arise; Shine for your Light has come!"
The Sisterhood
The Sisterhood is fellowship of women joined together to sponsor Christian cultural events and to raise scholarship funds for students. Over the years, these women have awarded merit-based scholarships to over 200 young people. The public figures and artists hosted by the Sisterhood have been diverse. The fellowship has hosted Mary McLeod Bethune, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and award winning actors Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis. They have sponsored theatrical productions like Opera Ebony and “Seven Quilts: A Stitch in Time," and also brought us inspirational Christian performers, including the Newark Community Choir and liturgical dancing groups and world-renown gospel recording artist, Keith “Wonder Boy “Johnson.
The William M. Moss Brotherhood
Named in honor of a beloved Concord pastor, The Brotherhood promotes fellowship and spiritual development for men of Concord. The Brotherhood also provides scholarships for high school seniors and honors scholastic excellence. The Brotherhood honors outstanding local community, activists and outstanding students through the Annual William M. Moss Brotherhood Banquet. |
